After surviving the moment of shock before my onward journey from Kaunas to Lithuania’s capital, I arrive in Vilnius relaxed and check into the Conti Hotel, which is wonderfully located on the edge of the old town. Thanks to a tip from my son Martin, who had stayed in town a few months ago as part of his job at the SODAS2123 cultural complex, I also find a particularly interesting culinary venue, the Georgian House.

As already observed in Kaunas, solidarity with Ukraine is evident in many ways, for example in the flying of flags on buildings.

Also here, culture and art are given a great deal of space in public life. This is particularly evident in Užupis, where art galleries and workshops are now located in historic buildings in a neighbourhood that was once predominantly inhabited by Jews.

On the way back from this interesting visit, I find a few more beautiful spots and end my day of sightseeing in a relaxed atmosphere above the rooftops of the city.
